Director of Product Management (New York, NY)
Whiting Consulting is in search of a Director of Product Management to join our client’s team. This is an important and strategic role within their company. The Director of Product Management will gather and prioritize product and customer requirements, define the product vision, and work closely with development to continue to deliver a remarkable product. Equally important, this position includes working with sales, marketing and support to ensure their product supports their business model and is helping the company grow. The ideal candidate will have experience in a startup organization.
Responsibilities
- Define the product vision
- Frame the long term road map
- Define short term objectives and initiatives that help realize long term vision
- Act as the product owner (scrum-type team)
- Execute
- Detailed planning regimen
- Pervasive customer discovery
- Extensive subject matter product discovery
- Lay framework for product development process and procedure
- Build product culture
- Work with existing members to instill a culture of rapid development and innovation
- Set the pace of development for the entire organization to follow
- Collaborate with engineers, account managers and sales people to evangelize the products’ direction
Qualifications
- 8+ years or equivalent experience as a product manager
- Exceptional understanding of the product development process
- Experience working for product focused technology companies
- Track record of building several products using fresh product development methods
- Applied lean practices to building products
- Some domain expertise in financial or legal services
- Managed product discovery and validation processes
- Structured prioritization frameworks that blend data driven conclusions with qualitative direction
- Self-directed and organized
- Forward facing for clients as well as the company’s leadership
- A positive influence capable of cultivation and debate
- Committed to building a first class Product Management group
- Ready for a new challenge
